The Industrial Machine

Posted by: Melissa  :  Category: Uncategorized

So we didn’t necessarily work on orders today but we did improve on some basic skills. Maybe not so basic when you’re talking about those industrial machines and most people think about the industrial machine as a sweatshop instrument, but not here.

One of our recent works in progress is a vinyl every purpose bag. Now these aren’t regular vinyl bags, these are recycled vinyl bags like from the billboards you see when you’re driving down the highway while blasting some Katy Perry or The Beatles. Now when everyone sees these in the store they don’t really think about what kind of work was put into it and I am going to tell you that this was probably one of the hardest things I have had to work on. Mostly because the industrial machines compared to a regular machine speed wise is like a cheetah compared to a human. Yeah that’s how fast it is. These will be on sale soon hopefully, oh by the way they’re water proof. :D

Finally we worked on lavender, and oooh weeee, that is some powerful lavender. I have the biggest headache right now but we have to think on the bright side, at least we have more lavender for our eye pillows and neck pillows, which by the way are also in production.

Well that’s it for today and until next week.

We are blogging machines

I reunite with my fellow mate, the blogging machine!

hello friends, comrades and cherished customers. i am back from the  busy real world with a tangerine in hand ready to spill out the ever so intriguing events that happen in our studio.  Along with all the random opera/Madonna/Lady GaGa singing happening in one corner of our room due to our lovely Nadia Johnson, we are making neck pillows of our own to distribute to whom ever we see fit to give to.

We are also planning to see the extraordinary fashion couturier  Balenciaga exhibit at the De Young by the ever so famous Hamish Bowles. For those who don’t know who he is, he  created Jakie Kennedy’s style. Oh what a joy!

Furthermore we are finishing our ever so extraneous lavender harvesting. finally after many many months of harvesting we have 6 more bags left to get crack-en down on and we will be free of the harvesting. Don’t get us wrong it was pleasant while it lasted especially the smell but let’s say we’re happy to get away from the taunting lavender ingrained in our brains.  we’re ecstatic we are almost DONE! YIPPY!!!

Recent Projects

I was on my way to the studio from school, and it was raining lightly outside but I didn’t bother to use my umbrella since the wind was blowing one side. I came here 10 minutes before 4:30 and I sat down and relaxed awhile listening to my ipod, while listening to my co-workers interesting conversations and snacking on cheese.

So we started are meeting and we got to work.Around 5 o’ clock Richard Lee came in so Me and Nadia can start working on the new project. It is a fleece robe with a kimono style collar. When I saw the pattern pieces I felt a bit overwhelmed on how to put these pieces together and cut them. But we did really great, and it wasn’t so bad after all.

After that we started working on the inside for the neck pillow.I pretty much have the steps memorized because I was working on that the first time I started coming to the co-op. Well, right now everyone is working on harvesting the lavender. I’m going to go join them now so…good bye!

Typical Day At The Studio

Posted by: Veronica  :  Category: Uncategorized

Hello everyone, my name is Veronica. I am one of the newest member of the co-op, so it’s my first time blogging here. It was nice and sunny outside on my way to the studio. Well today I finished working on my zip case and it turned out pretty well but not completely perfect. I think I can make zip cases by memory now which is great. I started working on one eye pillow but I’m not completely done yet because it has to be perfect. I want to improve my hand sewing skills so I can finally close an eye pillow shut. Well keep posted for future blog posts and purchase our lovely eye pillows for your family member, friend, a special someone, or even for yourself. You can be dreaming in style!
